The current consensus, with popularized theories taken into account, is that there are five types of vampires that exist. Each division has its own abilities, weaknesses, and strengths that permeate its being.
NULLBORN - These are bitten whose bodies have rejected the venom. Their bodies break down, unable to sustain the change. Their lives consist of a few options: a. Lingering in a fevered state, wasting away until the transformation completes. b. Die outright, if the venom is poorly administered or rejected by the body.
REVENANTS - Bitten mortals who have successfully transformed due to the transfusion of venom and have revived from death. This is the most commonly observed method of spreading vampirism.
DHAMPIR - Offspring of humans and vampires. They often possess traits from both parents. Dhampirs are typically fully human-like in appearance while retaining varied vampiric abilities. Some are even rumored to require a noticeably reduced amount of blood as sustenance compared to full fledged vampires.
PUREBLOODS - Purebloods are vampires born of two vampire parents. Their blood carries the full potency of the blasphemy, granting them power far beyond that of the made. They are often aristocratic, regarding themselves as rulers of the night, and many covens trace their legitimacy through them.
